Established in 1933, the Florida Association of Colleges and Universities was the first non-governmental organization in the state of Florida to represent the common interests of all three sectors of the state's higher educational system including state universities, public community colleges, and private independent colleges and universities.

ICUF: Independent Colleges & Universities of Florida
The Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida (ICUF) is a diverse association of 28 private, educational institutions. ICUF institutions are non-profits, Florida-based and (like Florida's public universities and community colleges) accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). They serve more than 120,000 students at 180 sites around Florida and offer bachelor degree opportunities on 18 community college campuses.

FGAL
Statewide Guardian ad Litem Office
A Guardian ad Litem is a volunteer appointed by the court to advocate for a child. Most of these children have been removed from their homes because of alleged abuse, abandonment or neglect. The GAL becomes familiar with the child and the child's case and makes recommendations to the court to help ensure a safe, caring, stable and permanent environment.

Florida Mentoring Partnership
The Florida Mentoring Partnership, in keeping with the state's pledge to America's Promise, helps students excel in school and life by recruiting Floridians to become mentors. This partnership, which began as the Governor's Mentoring Initiative in 1999, promotes collaboration among state agencies, municipalities, businesses, nonprofit organizations, individuals and schools.

The Florida Office of Drug Control was established by Governor Jeb Bush to follow through on his intentions to address the problem of drug abuse in Florida. This office is designed to coordinate all of the State of Florida's activities related to the reduction of drug abuse and its consequences in the State.

FASS: Florida Alliance for Student Service
FASS is a coalition of five statewide programs that promote student service-learning and volunteerism. Formed in 1998, FASS promotes the sharing of ideas, expertise, and resources to initiate, improve, expand, and institutionalize student service-learning and volunteerism in Florida. Working together, the Alliance programs increase collaboration, leverage scarce resources, consolidate space and staffing, as well as expand programs, networks and in-house expertise.

Florida National Guard Drug Demand Reduction Program
The Florida National Guard Drug Demand Reduction Program is a force multiplier in the support of drug prevention coalitions, state organizations, schools of all grades and other agencies in the effort to reduce the demand for and the use of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. The focus is on prevention through education.

4Generations Institute
The 4Generations Institute serves to promote community volunteerism for mutual benefit. Working with community leaders across the state, the Institute works to identify challenges and inspire the contributions of human and fiscal capital to address the problems associated with our communities' growth. The key objectives of the Institute are to identify model intergenerational programs and projects, to expand the impact of quality mentoring and volunteer initiatives, and to cultivate an environment to nurture communications across the generations.

American Democracy Project
American Democracy Project
The American Democracy Project (ADP) is an initiative of 219 AASCU campuses that seeks to create an intellectual and experiential understanding of civic engagement for undergraduates enrolled at institutions that are members of AASCU. The goal of the project is to produce graduates who understand and are committed to engaging in meaningful actions as citizens in a democracy.

Florida Newspaper in Education
Newspaper in Education (NIE) is an international program of cooperation between newspapers and schools that encourages the use of the daily paper as an up-to-date, instructional classroom tool. Through NIE, newspapers are used in all subjects as a progressive teaching resource, from primary through adult education levels. NIE motivates students, broadens knowledge and increases life skills
