Impact Project 2006-2008
The Center for Leadership and Service continues to build campus infrastructure in order to create an engaged dialogue for the institutionalization of service-learning. The Impact Project has enhanced program development and established seed money for a faculty development program, including stipends for faculty members to integrate service learning into curriculum.
Project Leader
Patricia Temino, Associate Director the Center for Leadership & Service, First Year Experience Instructor, and Adjunct for the School of Social Work, at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, FL. She plays an active role in the development of academic service-learning at FIU by leading campus-wide initiatives which include promoting service-learning to faculty and serving as an advisor to several community service student clubs & organizations such as Alternative Breaks. Patricia has been with FIU since December 2000. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from FIU in 1998 and received her Master's in Social Work from Barry University in 1999.

Project Highlights
- Held the MLK Day of Service, a campus-wide service event for service-learning students, classes, and student body
- Awarded stipends for the 11 new service-learning classes
- Engaged students in Relay for Life
- Hosted a Service-Learning workshop with guest speaker Cathryn Berger Kaye
- Held a "Day of Workshops" for faculty, administrators, and student leaders presented by Dr. Ed Zlotkowski
