Each fall, FL|CC hosts a professional development and planning conference for administrators, faculty, and staff who are responsible for coordinating community service and engagement activities. This includes curricular and co-curricular service-learning.
The conference provides opportunities to acquire information, share best practices, network with colleagues from around the state, and plan for collaboration.
On the Road to Carnegie — We’re bringing in the EXPERTS!
Florida Campus Compact is pleased to present a special half-day Pre-Conference session which will be led by two of the leading experts on the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification. As you may know, this elective classification is now formally affiliated with the Swearer Center for Public Service at Brown University. Dr. Mathew Johnson is the Associate Dean of the College for Engaged Scholarship at Brown and Executive Director of the Swearer Center; he is also a member of the Carnegie National Advisory Panel. His colleague, Georgina Manok, is the Manager of Research and Assessment at the Swearer Center. Together, Mathew and Georgina will introduce two specific tools that will assist and inform institutional data collection toward a robust Carnegie application. In addition, Dr. Melody Bowdon (University of Central Florida) and Josh Young (Miami Dade College) will serve as our Florida Scholars in Residence for this session — these two previously successful Carnegie applicants will be on hand to provide perspectives that may be unique to Florida’s BOG/FCS performance metrics and/or SACSCOC Accreditation.Conference Registration Fees (Wednesday evening through Friday lunch)
